We are a licensed childcare provider and accepting new registrations, including care for children starting Kindergarten in September! Watch our virtual tour - it is for kindergarten/ grade one students but is beneficial for all new families.

Deer Run Community Childcare is a fun, play-based environment located right in the Deer Run Community Centre. It provides childcare for children ages 19 months to 5 years (pre-kindergarten) in our Daycare program, and for Kindergarten to Grade 6 students in our Out-of-School Care program.
Our Childcare Vision
At Deer Run Community Child Care, we believe in creating an emergent curriculum that focuses on the child as a whole. Children are strong, capable, and mighty learners (as outlined in Alberta’s Curriculum Framework – Flight). Children require nurturing environments that support all areas of their development.

Daycare Hours
7:00 am to 6:00 pm
Out of School Hours (September to June)
Grade 1 to 6 (Component Times): 7:00 am to 8:20 am / Lunch / 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Grade 1 to 6 Fridays: 12:30 pm to 6:00 pm
Morning Kindergarten: 7:00 am to 8:20 am / 11:10 am to 6:00 pm
Afternoon Kindergarten: 7:00 am to 12:10 pm / 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Kindergarten Fridays: 7:00 am to 6:00 pm / 12:30 pm to 6:00 pm
Summer Camps / Spring Break Hours
7:00 am to 6:00 pm
Fees, Discounts & Subsidy
Fees are valid for each year and are subject to change. Fees shall be paid on the first of the month for the entire month and will not be prorated for any reason, including unexpected closures.
Registration Fee
All new families are subject to a non-refundable $100 registration fee per child. Once the family begins child care, $50 of the registration fee is applied to the first month of care. If a family withdraws, the full $100 will be retained.
Community Member Discount
We offer a discounted rate for families with a valid community membership. The discount saves $10 per month ($120 per year) in childcare fees. Since a community membership costs $30 per year, members come out $90 ahead annually, and receive member benefits throughout the year.
Families without a valid Deer Run Community Association (DRCA) membership on file will be charged the non-member rate.

Government Subsidy
Eligible families can apply for government child care subsidies to help with the costs of Daycare or Out-of-School Care. Use our legal name, “Deer Run Community Child Care,” when applying for or renewing subsidy applications.

Closure Dates
We are closed for all statutory holidays, a short winter break, and a few organizational days each year. These organizational days give childcare staff time to prepare rooms when transitioning between our Out-of-School program and our Summer program and back.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does your child care program qualify for the Affordability Grant ($10 per day) for children under 5 years of age?
Yes, our daycare program qualifies for the Affordability Grant, which reduces fees for parents. Please visit the Alberta Government website to learn more about the program at https://www.alberta.ca/federal-provincial-child-care-agreement.aspx
Do you accept child care subsidy?
Yes, DRCC accepts Child Care Subsidy. Subsidy is calculated by the Alberta Government based on income, and parents must apply individually. Ensure you use our name “Deer Run Community Child Care” when applying for or renewing your subsidy application. Visit the Alberta Government website for more information.
What is meant by "components" for out of school care?
There are three components of care for Grade 1 to 6 (Div 1/2). Your child(ren) may be enrolled in one, two or all three components:
- Before School Care
- Lunch Time Care
- After School Care
Component fees do not include PD days or Spring break. Kindergarten is considered full-time care and is not included in the component structure.
Do you accept children from other schools and neighbourhoods?
Yes. We accept children from all areas, as long as they can get to us. We do not offer transportation, but we will walk children to and from the bus stop in front of the Deer Run Community Centre to get to and from school.
Does your Out-of-school program provide care over Professional Development (PD) Days, Spring Break, and Summer?
Yes. Our Out-of-school care program provides care during these times. Summer is a separate program with different fees, and summer programming is announbced each spring.
Do you provide snacks or lunch for my child throughout the day?
Out-of-School Care provides an afternoon snack (3:00 pm) that follows Canada’s Food Guide. Parents are required to provide a morning snack (10:00 am) and lunch for their child. Once per month, a hot lunch is provided for an additional fee.
