Social Events
If you love bringing people together and putting on a great event, this is the role for you. Deer Run hosts events throughout the year, and every one of them runs on volunteer energy. Many hands make light work, and light work means more fun for everyone involved.

We're looking for creative thinkers and people who like to get things done. You don't have to be the person out front (though if that's you, we'd love to have you too); there's a role for however you like to contribute.

Communications
Communication is both an art and a science, and we're looking for people who bring either (or both) to the table. Whether your strength is writing, graphic design, photography, video, social media, website management, storytelling, or print materials, there's a place for you here. Different perspectives and skill sets help us reach more people in more meaningful ways.

Photographer
Do you love capturing great moments? We're looking for a volunteer photographer to help document our community events, from the Stampede Breakfast to our Family Christmas and Easter parties, for use on our social media and in the newsletter. No fancy equipment or experience needed, just an eye for fun. Interested? Email newsletter@deerruncalgary.com.

Outdoor Rink Committee

Big changes are coming to our outdoor skating rink, and we need volunteers to help shape them. This committee will help guide decisions on the recreational skating area, hockey rink layout, lighting, and future facilities like a heated garage or indoor rink. Experience in project management, planning, or ice sports is a bonus, but enthusiasm counts most. Seasonal & Events:

Throughout the year, DRCA hosts events that only happen because volunteers like you show up. Here's where you can help:

  • Stampede Breakfast (June, usually 3rd weekend) — a free family event with games, treats for the kids, line dancing, music, and a big pancake breakfast. Volunteer roles include set-up, pancake flipping, serving, running supplies, juice station, membership table, animal clean-up, and tear-down. Sign up here.

  • Community Clean-Up & Waste Disposal (September)

  • Giving Tree Committee (October–December)

  • Halloween Patrol (October 31)

  • Seasonal Outdoor Ice Rink Maintenance (November–February)

  • Family Christmas / Easter Party (late November or early December)

  • Fun Money Casino Night volunteers (March, tentative)

  • Spring Litter Clean-Up (spring)

  • Rink Clearing (winter)

  • General gardening and weeding at the community centre (May–September)

Business Involvement Opportunities

There are a growing number of businesses in Deer Run and the Community Centre is a great place to advertise your business through various sponsorship opportunities for the numerous events and programs held throughout the year.

In return for your sponsorship donation the Community Association can promote your business with the event including an inclusion in the Deer Run Villager (a printed newsletter delivered to each resident once a month), on the website www.deerruncalgary.com, and at the event itself.
