Deer Run Community Child Care is a fun, play-based environment located right in the Deer Run Community Centre. Deer Run Community Child Care provides childcare for children ages 19 months to 5 years (pre-kinder) in our Daycare program and Kindergarten to Grade 6 in our Out of School care program.

If you are interested in enrolling your child(ren) in one of our programs or have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. The best time to reach us is 9 AM to 6 PM Monday to Friday.

Subsidy

Eligible families can apply for government child care subsidies to help with the costs of attending child care or out-of-school care at our facility. Ensure you use our name “Deer Run Community Child Care” when applying for or renewing your subsidy applications.

Our Childcare Vision

At Deer Run Community Child Care, we believe in creating an emergent curriculum that focuses on the child as a whole. Children are strong, capable, and mighty learners (as outlined in Alberta’s Curriculum Framework – Flight). Children require nurturing environments that support all areas of their development.

Childcare Fees

Fees are valid for each year and are subject to change. Fees shall be paid on the first of the month for the entire month and will not be prorated for any reason, including unexpected closure.

OUT OF SCHOOL CARE Registration Fee

All new families will be subject to a non-refundable $100 registration fee per child. Should the family begin care with DRCC, $50 of the registration fee will be put towards the first month of care. Should a family withdraw, the full $100 will be kept.

Community Membership Discount

We have created a tiered system where member’s get a discount. The reduced fee can save community members $90 per year in childcare fees ($10 per month x 12 months = $120). A community membership only costs $30.

Until a valid Deer Run Community Association (DRCA) membership is presented, all families will start at the non‐member rate.

Closure Dates

We are closed for all statutory holidays, a short winter break and a few organization days each year. Our organizational days allow childcare staff time to prepare rooms when we transition from our out-of-school program to our summer program and back again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does your child care program qualify for the Affordability Grant ($10 per day) for children under 5 years of age?

Yes, our daycare program qualifies for the Affordability Grant which reduces fees for parents starting January 1, 2022. Please visit the Alberta Government website to learn more about the program at https://www.alberta.ca/federal-provincial-child-care-agreement.aspx

Do you accept child care subsidy?

Yes, Deer Run Community Child Care accepts Child Care Subsidy. Subsidy is calculated by the Alberta Government and parents must apply individually as it is done on an income basis. What is meant by components for out of school care?

There are three components of care for Grade 1 to 6 (Div 1 / 2). Your child(ren) may be enrolled in one, two or all three components.

  • Before School Care
  • Lunch Time Care
  • After School Care One component fees do not include PD days or Spring break. Kindergarten is considered full-time care and is not included in components.

Do you accept children from other schools and neighbourhoods?

Yes. We accept children from all areas as long as they can get to us. We do not offer transportation. We will walk children to and from the bus stop in front of the Deer Run Community Centre to get to and from school.

Does your out of school care program provide care over Professional Development (PD) Days, Spring Break, and Summer?

Yes. Our out of school care program provides care during these times. Summer is a separate program and has different fees associated with it. Summer programming is announced in the spring each year.

Do you provide snacks or lunch for my child throughout the day?

Out of school care provides an Afternoon snack (3:00 pm) that coordinates with Canada’s Food Guide. Parents are required to provide a morning snack (10:00 am) as well as a lunch for their child.

Once per month a hot lunch is provided for an additional fee (except during the pandemic).

Daycare provides breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack (3:00 pm) that coordinates with Canada’s Food Guide (except during the pandemic, we only provide an afternonn snack). Parents are required to provide a morning snack (10:00 am).

Do you accommodate children with special dietary needs?

Yes. We are willing to accommodate different types of dietary requirements based on each child’s situation.
