About Deer Run
Deer Run sits in Calgary's southeast, framed by the Bow River to the east and Fish Creek Provincial Park to the south. Well connected to the rest of the city via Bow Bottom Trail and Deerfoot Trail, the community offers easy access wherever you're headed.
Annexed by the City of Calgary in 1961 but not developed until 1978, Deer Run has grown into a community rich with green spaces, rolling hills, and recreational opportunities, including Lake Sikome, Calgary's only public manmade lake. Families are also well served by both public and Catholic schools in the area.

Fish Creek Provincial Park
One of North America's largest urban parks, Fish Creek Provincial Park borders Deer Run and spans over 20 square kilometres, with more than 100 kilometres of paved and natural trails for walking, running, cycling, and wildlife viewing. The park includes picnic areas, day use sites, a restaurant and café, and an Environmental Learning Centre.

Regional Pathway & Cycling Network
Deer Run connects directly to Calgary's regional pathway network through Fish Creek Provincial Park and along the Bow River, offering kilometres of scenic pathways linking to communities across the city. It's a favourite route for walkers, runners, and cyclists alike.
Bow River Recreation
The Bow River forms Deer Run's western boundary, offering walking and cycling paths, wildlife viewing, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and rafting. Nearby access points make it easy to enjoy one of Calgary's most scenic recreational corridors.
Sikome Aquatic Facility
Located within Fish Creek Provincial Park, Sikome Lake is a man-made lake with a sandy beach, seasonal swimming, picnic areas, restrooms, showers, a concession, and trails connecting to other areas of the park. Check the website for seasonal hours and admission before visiting.

Fish Creek Mountain Bike Skills Park
Calgary's first public mountain bike skills park, built and maintained by the Calgary Mountain Bike Alliance (CMBA), is designed for riders of all ages and skill levels to safely develop balance, cornering, and technical riding skills. Admission is free, and the park is open during Fish Creek Provincial Park operating hours.

The Deer Run Community Centre is home to a variety of outdoor amenities, including:

These facilities support organized sports, recreational play, and community events throughout the year.
Outdoor Skating Rinks
Two lighted outdoor rinks are located behind the community centre. Weather permitting, the outdoor season typically runs from December to March. Call the centre to check current ice conditions.
Deer Run Skatepark
Located beside the community centre at 2223 146th Ave SE, the skatepark is a popular spot for skateboarders, scooter riders, BMX riders, and inline skaters. Features include a quarter pipe, rails, a small stair set, and a flat deck. Open daily from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.; busiest in the afternoons.
Tennis & Pickleball Courts
The City of Calgary maintains three outdoor courts behind the community centre, available for public use.
Off-Leash Dog Park
Dog owners can enjoy the nearby Deer Ridge Off-Leash Area, just minutes from Deer Run, with plenty of room for dogs to exercise and explore, plus scenic walking paths nearby.

Deer Run Out of School ( DROOS ) is a fun play-based environment located right in the Deer Run Community Centre. We cater to children from kindergarten to Grade 6 and offer a variety of fun and exciting activities.

Community Boundaries
Our community encompasses two distinct housing areas situated near Bow Bottom trail and 146 Avenue SE, by the confluence of the Bow River and Fish Creek, in Calgary, Alberta.
The northern section of Deer Run includes the homes tucked in between the ridge and Bow River, from the uppermost point at Deer River Circle SE, down along Deer Run Boulevard to 146 Avenue SE. It also includes a section of homes along Deersaxon Road SE which is positioned between Bow Bottom Trail and Deerfield Drive. It excludes the homes along Deerfield Green and Deerfield Gardens, which form the southernmost tip of the neighbouring community of Deer Ridge.
Northern Extents of Deer Run (Park Space Map)
The southern section of Deer Run includes the homes east of Bow Bottom Trail and south of 146 Avenue SE, bordered to the east and south by Bow River and Fish Creek Provincial Park. It also includes the Fish Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant. It excludes the Fish Creek Mountain Bike Skills Park.
