The Board

The Board of the Deer Run Community Association (DRCA) Society is a group of engaged residents who take actions as well as volunteering to make this the best community to live in. 

Centre Staff

The Centre Manager and administration team are essential to the success of the community association and centre. You will often see their smiling faces at the front desk and volunteering at our community events.

Monthly Board Meetings

We meet on the first Wednesday evening of the month, each month except for July and August when the schedule shifts to accommodate holidays. The Executive meets from 7-7:30 p.m. and the public board meeting gets underway at 7:00 p.m. and runs until about 9:30 p.m. All DRCA members are welcome. Guests may also make a presentation. Meetings are currently being held in person at the Deer Run Community Centre, 2223 146th Ave SE Calgary.

Annual General Meeting

The annual general meeting (AGM) occurs each November. We share our financial report, the presidents’ report and more board information. Nominations occur at the AGM for Board positions with terms ending and other open positions.

Vacant and open Positions - 2026

We are seeking:

Treasurer: Everything is literally laid out. The books are organized - numbered, standard operating procedure guides are made AND the past treasurer would lead you through what gets done in a year. If you have an accounting bent or have done book keeping and have about 2 hours a week - this is a great position to step into.

Secretary: The position is currently filled but, to get new board members - because this is a fairly easy job, he (me - the guy writing this) would be happy to step aside. He would provide assistance if required and take another role on the board.

Communications: So we have a communications team lead, since she is staff, she can’t be on the board. HOWEVER, we have facebook, twitter, mail chimp, instagram, newsletter, website and physical media like posters etc - we need a larger team! Two people is not enough. If someone like to write articles OR take pictures OR create artwork OR publish on insta or fb OR do physical layouts and marketing or other items not listed - having a team of four or more would be even better. If you have a servant’s heart and want to support an already existing team to create better communication to our community - we need you.

Social Director Assistance: If you like to put on parties, this is the position for you. If you wanted to be on the board it would be a directory at large position. Events we have not had enough lead on in the past couple years are Christmas and Easter family events, ball tournament, fun money casino, Adult Halloween party, Grey Cup/Superbowl party, Family Skate party etc. If you are good at soliciting volunteers - this is also they type of person we would feel to be a valuable member of the team.

Project Manager: With budding renovations and projects in the DRCA’s future, we are looking for a project manager volunteer to help us! This position is for anyone who may have prior experience or wisdom in project management. Some current renovation projects we have in the works include: improving our skating rink, the kitchen, the childcare rooms, and many more.

Handy-person: Do you like to fix things or often get called “a jack of all trades”? If so, this is the position for you! The DRCA is looking for someone who is generally handy and interested in helping out with our smaller renovation or fix-it jobs. These jobs could include anything from painting to tile installation. Even if you do not have experience with these skills yourself, connections to business or people who may be able to help are always appreciated.
