Board Opportunities

Community Liaison

Be the connector who brings Deer Run closer together. As Community Liaison, you'll build engagement across the community, working alongside the Communications Team to create programs, events, and conversations that reflect DRCA's mission, vision, and values.

You'll partner with residents, community groups, and local businesses to strengthen what makes living in Deer Run special. This is a role with real momentum and real room to grow: some foundations are already in place, but you'll have the opportunity to shape its future direction. If you're creative, love connecting with people, and want to leave your mark on the community, this role is for you.

Director at Large

Director at Large is a voting seat on the board for people who don't fit into a specific title like Secretary, Treasurer, or Community Liaison, but still want a real say in shaping Deer Run's future. It's one of the most flexible roles on the board, suited to whatever skills and interests you bring.

Many Directors at Large are hands-on: comfortable with tools, project management, or tackling whatever practical challenge the community needs solved next. Others bring a fresh perspective, new ideas, or a specific passion project they want to champion. There's room to define what this role looks like for you.

Not sure if it's the right fit? Come to a board meeting and see for yourself. Everyone is welcome (just let us know you're coming via contact us). Meetings are held the 1st Wednesday of the month, except for one combined meeting in July/August.

Monthly Board Meetings

The Board meets monthly, except in July and August when the schedule shifts to accommodate holidays.

• Executive Meetings: 3rd Wednesday of the month, 7:00–8:00 p.m.

• Regular Board Meetings: 1st Wednesday of the month, 7:00–8:30 p.m.

All DRCA members are welcome to come to the Regular Board Meeting. Guests may also make a presentation if arranged in advance.

Meetings are held in person at the Deer Run Community Centre, 2223 146th Ave SE, Calgary.

Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held each November. We share the financial report, the President's report, and other board updates. Nominations for Board positions (both expiring terms and other open positions) also take place at the AGM.
